Before I got this course, I didn't know how to deal with a sensory seeker child. I knew some of the strategies, but I didn't quite understand how all that works.

It was eye opening, I now truly understand that even the simplest activities can be beneficial.

There are thousands of sensory play ideas on the internet that I can get for free. Why do I need this?
These thousands of "sensory play" ideas often have one thing in common: making some variation of a sensory bin, or gathering a bunch of materials and having your child sit and handle them in one way or another. This is NOT what true sensory play is all about.

True sensory play is about training your child's brain to process what's taken in by ALL the senses. It's about fulfilling a child's unique sensory needs - and only when a child's sensory needs are fulfilled can they regulate and behave better. This holistic view (and not simply creating sensory bins) is what this toolkit covers.
This is for kids at what age?
These are specially made for kids 1-3 years old. Many of the activities can actually be done at any age - so some of them are suitable even for younger or older kids.
Do I actually have time to do these?
That's what's so great about these. Unlike most toddler activities on the internet that need a lot of materials and preparation, almost all the activities require no preparation at all. Many of them are designed to be done throughout your regular routine, during a busy day. You won't need to carve out a chunk of time in your schedule for "activities".
What if my child has special needs?
If your child may have different sensory needs (like many kids with a developmental or behavioral concern), this toolkit is perfect for you! We've included a video about sensory processing issues, which will be especially helpful. Many parents have reported that it has helped them understand their child's sensory needs and address them better.

However, this does not replace therapy or any intervention that may have been recommended by your medical care providers.

Do I need to have a big playroom, sensory bins, or other kids to be able to use these activities?
No! Most of these activities are designed to be done at home. You don't even need sensory bins! There is also a mix of independent play and interactive play. Most of the interactive play ideas are designed to be done with a parent, caregiver or other adult.
